Together with two other designers, I designed and built the first version of an onboarding website for the client’s new employees. We carried out interviews with current employees, created different layout options, wrote content and built a working website with Squarespace.

How'd I do?

“In a short time the students (Notio-design) designed and executed a very finished prototype of an Onboarding manual. The manual’s contents met exactly the needs we have at Wörks with new employees. Thank you for the good work.”

The longer story

In the beginning we explored different alternatives for cooperation and onboarding became the main priority. The client had a different culture to many other advertising agencies which had not always been easy for the new employees to internalize. They also wanted to have a clearer onboarding process for the future and especially during the time of remote work.

Benchmarking and brainstorming ended in an onboarding website that would contain all crucial information and still take into account the client’s culture and vibe. In order to determine the content we conducted interviews with the client’s employees. Our client didn’t have a brand book but we implemented the font and colours they had on their current website.

We created four different layout options which we presented to the client. The final version of the site (video above of the final prototype on Figma) was created according to the client’s wishes and comments. In addition to layout design I also wrote the content for the site. The objective was to capture the essence of the client’s culture in text and to be informative, brief, humorous and relaxed but still professional. The final product was built on Squarespace by my colleague and handed over to the client for testing and iteration as they were just finishing their recruitment process.

One of the challenges I had was to explain a complex matter using only a few words. Culture is something you need to experience to fully understand it. Our client lived in a world of MVP’s so we implemented a similar culture to our own working. I learned even more about iteration, how to create value in a short time and how to not stare at the pixels, but the whole picture.
